The Original Woman

I am told I resemble my mother a lot. Physically and otherwise.

She is a difficult act to emulate -a strange mishmash of old world generosity and a free intelligent spirit that challenges complacency and unfairness.

Most of the time it is to everyone's advantage but I do think it leaves her a little exhausted. I used to call her campaigner or activist and that remains to this day.

With all her ailments, she is more active than people half her age. She is more concerned about Navy's likes than I could ever be bothered to be. And she is the one who packs our lunch daily!!

It is really her generosity that helps me work in peace knowing Anush is being really well cared for and loved but not spoilt.

She has resumed working part time ( though she is a full time grandma). She did seem a little lost not spending some time outdoors and in pursuit of a non family calling.

An avid reader, a great cook, a lover of saris, a music buff, a fantastic host ( who is often taken advantage of) the list goes on .....

It is to her genes that I attribute my love for art and culture, I am always trying to be as versatile as she is but I know a copy can never match the Original
