Sa re ga ma found a Little Champ in Sanchita. She is talented and is sure to go a long way. But I wonder if it had been judge's choice( vs the audience's) would she have won?
Why this mass hysteria and sympathy for Diwakar, another contestant. Sure he sings well and he is blind. Some felt they should have a separate contest for the handicapped. But blindness does not come in the way of singing. And this forum should be ONLY about his singing talent. Period.
Take the serial, Nach Balliye- a dance competition, I am not sure if it is right to club a clearly trained and professional dancer- Bhaktiyar with others who are amateurs. It does not remain a fair competition then.
Last year in SRGM Challenge 2005 , Himani and Hemchandra were clearly better singers .
The first "Indian Idol" should have been Rahul Vaidya or Amit Sana.
Do you think the self esteem of those who lost would have gone down? Would they have turned cynical?
Talent surely is not the only criterion for winning, that much is clear.
So all is fair in war or game shows or is everything stage managed anyway?

lot of stage management too. remember the walkout by ismail durbar yalgaar when debojeet was criicised? or the hype abt vineet's so called girlfriend by himesh reshmaiyaa...
infact the little sameer had more stage presence than any of the other little champs and he was a performer in his own right. inspite of the handicap, diwakar was too a great performer.. good show anyways as usual!!
Itchy- I think Abro and Pawani were the best singers - at least they go the critics award- see u on wednesday btw
Also do the previous tag?
they really funny formats. but i think they are fair enough. they make it clear beforehand that though they are talent shows, the judgement is not based on the talents, but based on mass-appeal. the judgements are based on sms-contests. the contenders know very well about this formant and they need not go cynical if they think they have lost the contest inspite of being more talented than the winner.
i too thought himani and hemachandra did really well :)
These shows are surely rigged! I missed the finale yesterday. I thought Sameer would win given all the hype around him. But from the beginning, I really liked Shraddha. It was awesome when she sang "Sola baras ki". But apparently whomever I support dont even enter the finals, so that shows my poor judgement! These things apart, I think they really dragged the show so much with so many eliminations and so many come backs, that I totally got bored and stopped watching the show a while back.
agree about the dragging part- i resumed seeing it - the last 4 episodes
shradda was good too
Its always or mostly said that physically challenged people must be given a fair chance,so Diwakar was given the same stage as others, but why the sympathy factor there? i used to feel so angry and frustration when his father used to give statements and that guy never seized any opportunity to ask for votes, clearly he is a fairly average singer, not an excellent one,he did improve alot,he can sing dard bhare geet very well, but not those chulbule types, for everything he uses same scale and same pitch.and when it comes to Sameer he is the other way round,he was singing "woh maaji re,apna kinara" along with abhijeeth,no comparision but still he was worse in that song. clearly Abhrokanthi,Pavani and Sanchitha were the three best singers. and as of now this is atleast one show which is better than other shows, specially the one on Sony,Indian Idol or that Jhalak dikhlaja, they seem to be so stage managed. and i just get bugged up about that nach bhaliye, specially Malaika Arora.Anyways, they are all good for timepass, nothing more.

art.....noooooo...... please find some other topic. I have to say, this is the worst off all your posts!
art good post. I thot diwakar was very average, sameer has good presence - but clearly the best singers were pawani, abro and sanchita. even shraddha was good. clearly there is more than MERE talent that dictates who the winner will be. I often wonder - what the aam janta thinks of when they vote. I dont know anyone in my close circles (unless you count my 7 yr old niece) who votes for these contests. And then I wonder, are the 7 yr olds deciding winners at these talent shows?
Hey all- I am glad to find some people who side with me on this.
I am also an arm chair critic not one to vote but so what - entitled to an opinion all the same
Apu- this post is not for the "arty " elite like you- LOL :-)
I thought abhro was most talented. Pawni was also good- but frankly when I watch these talent shows, what puts me slightly off is the over confidence level bordering on arrogance- and the over enthu of some parents-
Himani and Hemchandra were my favourites too...and btw, I'm a regular here :-)
thanks and do keep visiting
don't follow this show but i'm quite postive that these so-called "talent" quests are rigged! how else will you explain the elimination of so many deserving candidates...i'm sure it's not all because most of the general public didn't vote!! Btw, i do agree that himani and hemchandra were really, really good! i still remember himani's rendition of jiya dhadak dhadak!
I used to think that they are rigged, but a discussion in office changed some of that thinking. In a room with around 10 people, there was a short but animated discussion about Nach Baliye results, and all points of views and preferences were presented. So, there must be people voting for somebody who I thought was clearly the not-so-better candidate.
Do you think the self esteem of those who lost would have gone down? Would they have turned cynical? By personal experience, I would feel that competitions have a way to toughen you up. Life is not fair and competitions like these have a way to teach you that. Its sad when there is obvious bias involved but that is the way life is going to be, whether we like it or not! :)
