Swine Flu has hit Velachery, Chennai. One young child lost his life! The parents must be distraught. Appalling! Some of the comments that people make in the face of disaster. Possibly their way of coping but it reeks of insensitivity.
To add to all this, the media will go to any extent to makes you feel vulnerable and almost hysterical !
Under parental pressure and of course exhibiting caution, a lot of schools in Velachery , including Anush's have declared leave at least till this weekend. Anush is upset to be missing school!! She said " Why there is no school? I love school amma. I will feel bored a home na?"
A doc was called in by her school yesterday and gave gyaan to students and teachers. I am told, he also reiterated the need NOT to panic.
I am a little concerned about Navy who moves around quite a bit, interacting with a lot of people.
But I will follow the doc's advice and not panic. ( though I am rather happy we have been most of time in the Pallikarnai home and not the Velachery one)

hey lady K sent a txt yesterday - influenzum 200 - 5 pills 3 times a day for 5 days - preventive for swine flu for kids. my homeopath revised it to 5 pills twice a day for 2 days but he also agreed that the drug was bang on.
The media is creating the panic. The normal flu also is fatal if not cared for well. I have some material that I'll post to you.
chox- yes got that sms from MM as well. . .
monika.ansh- i guess that is true
chox can i give this to a 20 month old?
Yeah, there's too much panic in and around Velachery. And I am worried despite trying to stay calm. I think I'll also check with my doc if it is wise to administer the preventives.
@monika: my sister is giving it to her 17 mo old so i guess its okay. but do check with a homeopath just to double check.
Sigh...I'm hoping and dreading that D&D's school might close too. And trying to put it in perspective and not panic too.
Tks Chox for the homeo suggestion. will ask my doc if her Anti-flu will work...for all of us!
thanks chox
Yes most schools in and around Velachery have closed down - some for few days, some this whole week. Hope the panic dies down, H1N1 subsides soon.
same here
I thick panic is spreading faster than flu..here in B'lore schools authorities are still confused on whether to remain open or not..with a four year old..trying hard not to hit the panic button!!
ps would be honoured if you could check out my space!!!
To Choxbox
Dr's are qualified to prescribe after careful diagnosis. Dont give medicine to children who are normal and based on hearsay
@ganesh:
do agree one should not medicate anyone based on hearsay. have indeed checked with my homeopath.
anupama- my pleasure- welcome to blogging

all- i guess all of us are trying not to let this affect us or our families
but the amount of alerts from almost strangers and the media coverage on this matter is alarming
