There was a time when Yan can cook was the word on Chinese cooking- I used to chant " If Yan can cook, so can I" Honestly how many of you did that?
Now I watch Kylie Kwong- she is engaging and exotic, an Australian Chinese and though I am vegetarian I cannot but be enthralled by her descriptions of non vegetarian cooking.
Another favourite on food ( not really on cooking) is the show Highway on my plate , along the lines of Hairy bikers.
And if you think of gastroporn then who else but Nigella ? I love her stuffing herself at the end of the episode as the credits roll, predictable as it has become.
And further down on the list is Kunal's The foodie show
Have you seen any or all of these? Any more you wish to introduce me to?

Oh! I thought I was the only nut case to LOVE HOMP :) I love those guys Mayur and Rocky! and I feel NDTV Good times is coming up with good shows...
you can watch these too :
1. Chakh Le India
2. In Discovery - I Love ANthony Bourdain shows....- No reservation
3. now the same guy ,Ahitya Bal, is having another show called Game nite bites...
these are some of the shows that i love!
Oh, I like Kylie too - and she's taught me to make the best fried rice ever :)
I wish there were some interesting Indian cooking shows - ours are all only recipes, no personalities! (Sanjeev Kapoor is halfway there, I suppose....)
I prefer our traditional indian cooking to foreign stuff....
so here goes my list...Vijay TV Sat-Samayal Samayal kitchen killadigal...the plus point--all dishes are to be made within 30 minutes...
Podighai TV(yeah it has the best cookery show if i may add)-sat 12.05pm-1.00pm Samayal sandhegangal(cooking doubts)..USP of show-variety of chefs/traditional cooks participate...the best being Chef Damu--he not only describes how things are made..but will also give you the best side dishes/main dishes which go along with the recipe....my mouth waters just hearing him speak about perfect combos...
Sun TV-again on Sat-Aaha enna ruchi...it has a kiddies section...may be anush will get interested in it....
Jaya TV-eve(I do not know which day the programme comes..need to check out TV guide)Malikka badrinath...not the usual recipes but how to make usual recipes healthy enough for today's times....i think it includes microwave cooking..not sure!
At my weight.. i steer VERY clear of foodie shows and food shops..and yet it helps not! :-(
And on the net-Indira's Mahanandi---if anyone can claim that they have tried each and every recipe that she had posted....then i am sure such a person would be very old...coz there are just so many recipes....and the links she has collected of the foodie bloggers from around the world...mind blowing!!
lavs- mahanandi is great indeed
as for the TV shows- seen most of them- problem is none of them is pleasing to the eye and are more lab like in their production
also nothing out of the ordinary in most- at least when i have watched- our moms / paatis would teach us better
mallika i find good but VERY clumsy
the kiddy one is rather cute but anush loves to help us in the kitchen anyway:- ))
indian ones- i will opt for mirch masala and sanjeev kapoor
ibh- i like anthony too but navy does not:-((
chak le i have to chekc out
apu- u said it
howdoweknow- never prevents me:-))
if you watch ETV UP and Rajasthan, they have a program called Rasoi Se...since i watch only re-telecasted ones, i dont know the timings, but you can browse the site to check their timings...i get most of my north indian dishes recipes from these sows..
yes, it lacks personolities like Nigella or in US , chef named Emeril Lagasse....but they have atleast good recipes to showcase!
oh i love highway on the plate and the foodies show
IBH- Monika- cool
