Last year this time, we were flying to Mumbai from Chennai. Anushka's first flight.
She was a little over a month old. I had consulted everything from Spocks to the Panchamgam, from my local gynaec /pediatrician to my friends abroad. I wanted to be sure that I made it as comfy as possible for Anush. I was drawing fro theory/ experience everything. She was a doll. Slept right through the entire journey. Was a little disoriented once we got home but was overall an uneventful journey.
I preserved her flight ticket- her very first.
Last month - Anushka's first train journey- an overnighter. She enjoyed it thoroughly. When she was on the middle berth she kept pointing her finger at/ to this gentleman who really responded much to her glee.
At the station, in the waiting room, on the way back, Anush got very restless and suddenly began wailing. Tried cooing to her, feeding her and consoling her- she would not stop. An elderly gentleman came up to me and offered me some Odomos lotion. I was so moved.
I forgot to preserve the ticket. But I will treasure the memory of the uncle's gesture- so
simple, so thoughtful.
