Bangalore se Kanyakumari!

Did the Kerala trip with the girls this weekend

Very hectic even by my standards since each place offered a lot if you went into the details.

Day 1-
Ex Trivandrum
Padmanabhapuram palace- beautiful  would be an understatement
Kanyakumari - Rocky beach and Sunset, view of memorials since we were late for the ferry ride, the

Thiruvalluvar statue is more imposing than the Vivekananda rock
Sucheendram temple- While the musical pillars are off limits, the sanctum with the trinity is lovely and the temple is well maintained

Day 2-
Padmanabha temple, museum  and the methan mani- clock
Poovar Island- boat cruise, bird watching, beach of course
Evening train to Kochi

Day 3
Allepy District- an unknown hamlet with a pristine beach for the kids to meet their apartment buddies
Fort Kochi- Chinese nets, Jewish Synagogue, Jew town, Dutch Palace, Churches and Tea Pot cafe!, reminded us of Pondicherry a lot

Being Christmas time, the lights and festivity and the carol troupes on the roadside, were all a delight.
We ate nongu/taadgola/ ice apple, in a very different way- in a glass by the road side ( essense optional)
In Kerala one should go by travel time  and not kms!

We stayed at a homestay- Pushpam and at Millenium in Cochin - both were good enough for night stays and the service was great.
Celcabs is what we used and it worked out well for us on all days across cities
