Paati

Poona Paati to me, Situ Paati to my little ones and to Navy
Amma to many, though chiefly to Raju and Rajam
A small little lady
With long black curls and a large heart
The maker of bolis and rotis
And morkozhambu like no other
A frail lady but my pillar of strength through a difficult  pregnancy
The remover of all evil-the suthi podra person of this home
Lover of TV serials ( including kandravi and chandalans)
Mysore Sandal Soap and Ponds dreamflower talc loyalist
Expert at Kolams, crochet and carrom too( not to forget the childish cheating)
The last grand one of mine
Spirited and Shy, Stubborn and Helpful
Zestful till almost the end, the last few weeks were painful.

Tata Paati. Inga mathram poitu vara modiyaadu.
I can picture you right now, having a  tiff  with thaatha already over there.
Till we meet again, farewell.

Reminds me so much of my own Paati..she had such a modern outlook towards life..she was the first one to approve my love marriage to a man from another caste-she said we all live in a cosmopolitan society, ithula enna irukku? She sang songs, slogams, was adept in kolam, tamil literature..ennoda paati.
I am so sorry for your loss.Take care

Just knowing you, I can sort of imagine the grandma she must have been; sad that we didn't get a chance to get to know her. Sorry to hear about your loss. Peace.

Thanks all for the support. Rationally, we all know that this is a life well lead and a fairly good end.

Aditi does not know. She thinks paati is in hospital still.

Anush was a little low and wants more details. We told her that the body goes but the soul lives on as a star. We are keeping the kids engaged with routine activities.

Situ Paati seemed to have waited to see the kids before moving on.

She has been hospitalised since Jan 6 and met them on this Sat finally when they allowed the kids to visit her.
