Kids get hurt but

.. how do you react.

When the girls were little I would blame the floor/ furniture/ shoe etc and mock admonish them

After Anush turned three or so, I stopped the blame game and began to explain how she was being careless or unwatchful.

Now it is Adi's turn and she gets treated like a growing girl by me and indulged by her father like the baby that he thinks/ wishes his girls still are.

I used to 'scold' the floor/door/broom until I realised that R was reacting in the same way..so I started to tell her that the floor/door/broom was saying sorry and she should forgive them :) well thats working till now

Still use the 'scolding the object' idea, but have begun to tell him to be careful too... What works once doesnt necessarily work always! :-( Sigh!

i've scolded everything under the sun to keep my kids from howling. They pass through the phase and grow out of it on their own. Happy Vishu. And where is your house in b'lore. I may just pop in when I visit the place in Oct.My brother lives in Marathahalli. is it close by?

I used to do the same until I realised that its not helping. And then "Be careful" was the modus operandi that was used.
