Happy Tamil New year!

My office IS support is so expert that a fairly working connectivity has been rendered utterly useless on my office laptop. Will figure out myself now.

Luckily my personal PC is working ...

Happy Vishu!! We had our first bloom in Blore today- guess our plants are settling in and probably look more cheerful in this weather.

I was in Chennai yesterday. I spend more time on airport to home transfers than the flights themselves! Managed to get poppadam at my usual Chennai shop.

Need to locate a good Kerala- Tamil Nadu sort of veggie vendor here. Missing Pazhamadir style shops here-keerais and banana flower / stem and the like.

Not sure exactly where you are located.. if you are near Indranagar, the place is teeming with Mallu shops. Will find out exact locations and get back to you.

If you are near 9th block Jayanagar, there are a couple of shops there in the shopping area that cater to tamil/mallu crowd. If you need more info, let me know, I will email you.

Art, am surprised abt the veggie shops considering where you live! Perhaps it's cos you are looking for a large shop? IMO, the small shops in Blr do as well...and keerai ('soppe') is usually not as good with the main veggies, but much better with the soppe vendors who come around in the mornings...all other veggies are pretty much the same, though I believe at the moment, there is some sort of veggie shortage due to water shortages in Karnataka...

I rely on the 'soppu' (=keerai) vendors who come by each morning, they have the freshest greens from paalak, methi, pudina, dhania to murungakeerai and some others I don't even know the names of. Past few days none have come by though, and that is likely go on for a while - first the summer and then the torrential premonsoon downpour will ensure that. Very soon cries of 'badami raspuri malgoa maavinahannu' (ripe mangoes) shall be here though (rubbing my hands
in glee)!

The BESTEST market IMO is in Jayanagar 9th blk. And you can speak in Tamil there. Pretending Ive-been-here-for-ages works. Hindi/Eng are fine too but the
rates will vary accordingly! Koramangala has a market too near the Wipro maintained park (Jakkasandra?). If youre in Indiranagar there's one in Neelasandra (I think). Then there are the Hopcoms (Karnataka Govt venture) outlets adjoining every park, not as good as the markets but prices are fixed. Personally I
prefer these markets/street vendors to Namdhari/Greens n Grains/...

One of the things I love most abt being in Blore is the quality and variety of veggies, an offshoot of the weather I guess. Once you locate the right places to buy from, I am sure you will too :)

Hi!, welcome to Blore. Aargee told me she met you last sunday. I live pretty close to your area.
Donno if you remember me, I have left very few comments on your blog.

For variety and reasonably priced Tamil Nadu sort of veggie vendors, HAL market on Sunday mornings is the best :) and yes you get popadams and stuff too :)

You get all fruits at the cambridge layout junction after Sai Baba temple. Veggies- the keerai gals are the walking ones- ther should be one stationed outside St. Anne's.... ?
MK Ahmed on CMH Rd (near the hospital not near Double Rd) offers a fresh selection of furits and veggies.
Tippasandra mkt is another good place- and yeah the Hopcoms guys are decent.
