Drama at Play

Last Sunday we went to a play by asap productions by name "Run for your wife"

It was to offer my US born and raised cousin a glimpse into Indian English plays. Not the best choice but it was mindless madness, if somewhat juvenile. Michael Muthu's sets were impressive as usual and I must say the asap guys can compete with the highly hyped evam guys any day. Their English is more causal and less laboured. .A couple of the performances were excellent.

The funniest part was played by Anush. In the opening scene the 2 wives occupy half the stage each and are calling the police about their husband Smith, John Smith and they shout it out in unison.

Anush, who knows a nursery character John, immediately joined in and yelled " Joooooooooooooohn, Jooooooooooooohn!!"

While the audience was amused, we were rather embarrassed and I rushed to a corner of the hall to ensure she stayed quiet and forced her to sleep ( which I hate to do).

(This was the same venue where Anush paid rapt attention to Madhirakshi by Anil and Sikkil)
