Wat err Post

On Saturday we watched Gods must be Crazy II with Anushka. Two curious ( bushmen?) children go to explore a novelty- a truck. They see drops of water leaking onto the ground from it and draw an analogy to God giving morning dew. They conclude that the tanker must be a Source of water!

The truck which is a poacher's, takes off. The kids frantically try to get off. They move on to the attached water tanker and into it as well. In doing so they discover a vast quantity of water- they have never seen so much water all at once! They are joyous .....at least for a while. So poignant.

Anushka and I had a discussion as to how there is no water in the desert except in the oasis. We spoke of the ship of the desert and other such details.

We then moved on to how sea water was different from river water but the sea is also getting dirtied by us

She recollected the thirsty crow which came to Anushka for water, who being clever, gave it a straw since its beak could not reach the water.
She laughed about our favourite 'humpy' camel who stored water like a fridge inside itself, for its own consumption.
She recalled how one of the first "manners" lessons we had taught her at home was to offer water to any guest/ visitor who comes over.

Then I spoke about how water was getting scare. How it was precious and how we needed to care for it.

Imagine not being able to have a shower bath ever again?
Not knowing how it is to splash colourful water at Holi?
Not being able to use water for painting?
Not being able to steam cook things? .... and so on.....

Till finally we came to Not being able to drink when and how much you are thirsty.

We sang the Karadi Song " Rain rain come again"

Anushka solemnly decided she would not play much with water - just a little bit, once in a while.
Some small drops contributing to the ocean of conservation!

Go here for an interesting book release from our favourites- Tulika.
